Strange Connection Notifications

A large number of users are currently reporting the “RemoteToPC – active connection” window opening with connections from unknown IP addresses.
Most of them have an IP address of 29.0.23.0, but others are reported.
We have found this to be Windows Defender port scanner “connecting” to RemoteToPC causing this issue.
Workaround #1: Close or kill remotetopctray.exe from the task manager.
You might also disable it in the startup. This is a temporary fix. We hope to have it resolved on Monday.
We hope to have a more permanent solution in a few days.
Update May 7th, 2025: We are currently pushing out update 2.5.9 that should resolve this issue.
